8 Common Questions About New Home Wiring in Adelaide Answered

Rough-In Stage

This is when the electrician installs the electrical boxes, conduits, and wires. It generally takes place after the framing of the house is complete but before the insulation and plasterboard are installed. For a standard-size house, this might take anywhere from a few days to 2 weeks. At this stage, RENELEC Electrical Services would handle the initial installation of electrical components.

Inspection

After the rough-in stage, an electrical inspector will need to review the work to ensure it meets all local and national electrical codes. The time for inspection can vary, but generally, it takes a few days to a week for an inspector to visit the site and complete the review.

Finishing Stage

Once the house is nearing completion and after the walls are insulated and plasterboard is installed, RENELEC Electrical Services would return to install the power points, switches, and light fittings, and to complete any final wiring. This stage might also take a few days to 2 weeks.

Final Inspection

After all the electrical work is completed, a final inspection is generally required. This is to ensure all the work is up to code and has been done safely and effectively. RENELEC Electrical Services will ensure that everything is ready for this inspection, which might take another few days to a week.

So, as a rough estimate, the electrical work itself might take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks of actual work time, spread out over the course of the entire construction process. Adding time for inspections, you might expect the electrical component of a new house built in Adelaide to take anywhere from 1 to 2 months from start to final approval, though this can vary significantly based on a wide variety of factors.

It is also important to consider that the electrician’s work is just one part of a larger construction schedule, and delays in other areas (like framing, plumbing, or plasterboard) can impact when RENELEC Electrical Services is able to do their work.

For the most accurate timeline, it is best to consult with RENELEC Electrical Services, a local electrician or electrical contractor in Adelaide, who can give you a detailed estimate based on your specific plans and needs. They can also inform you about any special local regulations and requirements that might affect the timeline.

Marcus and Ethan were excellent! I had a chandelier that I needed installed in a stairwell in a two story house and it was not a problem for the guys. The lights were hanging too low and it was no problems for the boys to readjust the height of all the lights. This was no small adjustment but the guys did this happily. Top service, very easy to work with, responsive and very friendly. Highly recommend!
